ASEAN Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum 2026 Held in Beijing to Deepen China-ASEAN Sci-Tech Collaboration and Serve Neighboring Diplomacy Strategy

On the afternoon of March 26, 2026, the ASEAN Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum was grandly held at the Zhongguancun International Innovation Center as an important component of the 2026 ZGC Forum. Themed "Converging Innovation Ecosystems to Share an ASEAN Future," the forum aligned with the deployment of the "China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Action Plan (2026-2030)," bringing together political dignitaries, industry leaders, and academic experts from China and ASEAN countries to discuss cross-border innovation cooperation.

H.E. Pham Thanh Binh, Ambassador of Viet Nam to China; Mr. Pov Somnang, President of ASEAN Economic and Trade Promotion Association; Mr. Ong Tze Guan, Chairman of Singapore Chamber of Commerce & Industry in China; and Mr. Shu Bilei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Beijing Municipal Government, delivered opening remarks. They generally agreed that China and ASEAN share geographical proximity and complementary industries, with broad prospects for cooperation in digital economy, green technology, bio-medicine, and other fields. They expressed hope that the forum would serve as an opportunity to build consensus on cooperation and promote the formation of a cross-border innovation ecosystem characterized by "Demand-Driven, Supply-Side Synergy, Market Integration, Collaborative Progress."

Mr. Wang Sheng, Chairman of China Galaxy Securities; Mr. Yang Renquan, General Manager of Zhongguancun Development Group; and Ms. Adaline Zheng, Chief Executive Officer of UOB Hong Kong, delivered welcome speeches on behalf of the organizers,  respectively. They stated that they would leverage resource advantages to assist Chinese tech enterprises in expanding into ASEAN, connect with high-quality ASEAN resources, and serve the national opening-up strategy through concrete actions.

Several important announcements and signings took place during the forum. The  International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission of China signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhongguancun Development Group, with both parties agreeing to conduct practical cooperation around serving enterprises' "introduction and going global," co-building international cooperation mechanisms, and promoting the integration of industrial and innovation chains. An unveiling ceremony for the "ZGC AI Business International Service Hub (ASEAN)" was also held on-site, officially designating CGS International Securities as the investment banking services institution. This marked a new stage in professional and capital-oriented services for Zhongguancun AI companies expanding into ASEAN market. CGS International Securities will leverage its ASEAN business advantages to provide enterprises with comprehensive services, including policy consultation, market docking, and resource integration.

Unveiling Ceremony of the "ZGC AI Business International Service Hub (ASEAN) "

The "UOB Intellichain: The ASEAN Express Announcement" was simultaneously launched, relying on the industrial organization advantages of Zhongguancun Development Group and UOB's ASEAN network to create a one-stop financial service channel for Zhongguancun enterprises going to ASEAN.

During the keynote speech session, Mr. Alan Inn Wei Loon, Malaysia Country Head of CGSI, and Jimmy Koh, Managing Director and Head of Network Partnerships and Strategic Marketing, Group Foreign Direct Investment Advisory of UOB, shared China-ASEAN opportunities and financial service ecosystems, respectively. In the ASEAN Insights session, representatives from the Economic Development Board of Singapore, ATM Capital, and Sembcorp Urban provided in-depth interpretations of ASEAN industrial policies and market opportunities. During the ASEAN Cases session, heads of enterprises, including Balance Medical, Glodon, Hong Kong Smart Technology, Haizhichen Group, KeenData, ASDC, and Star AI, released overseas projects in fields such as high-end medical care, AI+construction, 3D vision, and AI data infrastructure, fully demonstrating the strength of China's technological innovation and overseas expansion potential.

This forum represents a joint effort by China Galaxy Securities, Zhongguancun Development Group, and UOB to serve the national neighboring diplomacy strategy. The three organizers, with capital as the bond, innovation as the engine, and industry as the foundation, have constructed a new model of cross-border cooperation featuring deep integration of "finance + technology + industry," fully demonstrating the platform advantages and responsibility commitment of government-enterprise collaboration and China-foreign linkage.

Looking ahead, the three parties will continue to deepen strategic collaboration, fully leverage their core advantages in capital markets, innovation ecosystems, and regional networks, focus on key areas such as digital economy, green technology, and bio-medicine, and promote the transition of China-ASEAN innovation cooperation from "point-based breakthroughs" to "systematic integration," injecting sustained innovative momentum into regional economic high-quality development.
